State House Investors Protection Unit.

 

H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni President of the Republic of Uganda established the State House Investors Protection Unit (SH-IPU) in his unwavering commitment to create a conducive environment for Investors by safeguarding them from corrupt practices and unnecessary bureaucracies. The unit was officially announced on May 1, 2023, during the Labor Day celebrations held at Namutumba district headquarters.

His Excellency, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, made the historic announcement during this event, underscoring his dedication to eradicating corruption tendencies that may hinder the growth and prosperity of investors in Uganda. Collaboratively, the unit is working hand in hand with the Uganda Investment Authority, Uganda Revenue Authority, Uganda Registration Services Bureau, and the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration.

On May 6, 2023, President Museveni took another monumental step by appointing Col. Edith Nakalema as the head of this Unit, known for her unwavering commitment to justice and accountability, she assumed this crucial leadership role to champion the unit’s mission.

Since its inception, SH-IPU has made significant strides in its mission to safeguard the interests of investors. We have so far registered over 20 Investor complaints, 90% have been resolved and 10% have been referred to the respective agencies.  The journey thus far reflects a collective determination to create a fair and equitable investment climate that benefits both domestic and foreign investors.
